Regression

Jan 22, 2011 7:16 PM by Discussion: ObjectDock

I finally upgraded to Win7 and thought I'll install OD2.0 (instead of OD1.9 that I have on the XP machine.

So, it's nice, even though the only new feature I really recognize is the cool reflections (and very nice skins that come bundles).

Today I realized a huge problem, definitely a regression that needs to be addressed.

I installed SysStats in order to use my favorite docklets, mostly self made, such as CPU/RAM/Virtual memory, Network (live download and upload speeds+IP), My computer(shows also the used  capacity of the drives), Moon phase, Gmail etc.

Unfortunateky, as I tried to add a docklet, OD crased (again and again each time I tried).

I'm sure anyone will agree that this is a huge regression! No docklet system greatly reduces the usability and attractiveness.

Specially the SysStats system was kind of open-source and allowed anyone with minimom coding skills to write docklets. It's an amazing system!

Please let me know if this issue is going to be addressed.

Hi,

This is a simple question without an answer, I tried everything already...

I cannot find an option to delete a skin from my gallery.

It seems that there is no Delete button!

Is it a bug on the new website or is it a policy, please help, it's really frustrating.

I'm not far from uploading empty files just to get it done.

Any help appreciated,

Thanks.

Thanks for the new dark skin on the beta site, the problem is it doesn't remember the setting between browser sessions.

Another problem is the link for home goes to the forums, no way to go back to the main page of the beta site.

First alternative theme for WinCustomize - a skin for our skinning site.

Feb 11, 2010 11:18 PM by Discussion: New Releases

Hi

Have you ever wished there would be some alternative themes for our beloved site?

Most likely you did, after all we all love skinning and using alternative themes for our applications.

Not sure if you know already, but there is a way to skin websites, it's called "Stylish" for Firefox.

Stylish is an Add-on for Firefox that let's the user apply various styles to existing websites.

There are many styles (themes) for popular sites such as Google, Facebook etc.

It's one of the coolest Add-ons I know that let you style your web, quite futuristic.

The paradox is, there is no theme for Wincustomize, our beloved site that is one of the biggest skinning communities.

Well, there wasn't until today.

I took the mission to make the first alternative dark theme for WinCustomize and Wincustomize Beta.

It's optimized mostly for the beta site but works on both so when the beta will become the main site it'll work the same.

To use it you'll need to install Stylish add on for Firefox from here -  https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108

Then to apply the style, just one click on "Install with Stylish" here -  http://userstyles.org/styles/25121

Hope you'll enjoy it,

comments are welcome.

Hi members of the community. You may have wondered where did I disappeared ( well, I said "may" ;) ) Anyway, I've been focusing lately on creating Firefox themes. It's a very big project that takes a big part of my spare time. It's also a very satisfying project and I'm happy to see that all my themes are rated 5* and both released themes entered the top 20 popular themes with about million downloads. Ok, enough with the ego pumping intro :HOT: , let's get to the news... I've just released a new Firefox theme that's going to have a matching WB (coming soon). I'd like to invite you to have a look and give some feedback. I'm posting here because my Firefox themes aren't hosted here but on Mozilla's forum (There's no substitute for Mozilla's mechanism of automatic updates and extra features for supporting the add-ons). Anyway, as they say, a screenshot is worth a thousand words... Comments are welcome.

Hi.

Userstyles allow the user to style the web the way he/she wants to.

Basically, skinning the web.

I made a userstyle to solve a common problem with any dark theme for windows including WB.

The problem is, with dark themes that use light text color, that on some websites the text becomes invisible (against white background)

This userstyle deals with it and changes all the textboxes to a dark background with dark gray frame & light gray text.

Anyone using a dark theme should check it out, it'll fix almost all the problems with the web.

You can find it here: LavaFox - Textboxes style

To install it you'll need Firefox and Stylish extention https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108

If you like to try my Firefox theme, you can find it here: LavaFoxV1

And the matching WB here: DarkLavaV3

Comments are welcome.

Hi.

I've just uploaded a new theme and got feedbacks about graphic bugs.

I deleted it from my gallery and looked into the problem.

Looks like i've solved it but i want to be sure before i re-upload it.

Just need a quick test on XP.

I've uploaded it here:

Thanks for any feedback.

Dark Lava V3 - sneak preview

Hi,

I've been away for a while,working on a Firefox Theme "LavaFox V1"

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/11861/

Now i'm updating my WB "Dark Lava" to version 3 (just started)

It'll be darker and more hot ;)

What i'm doing is porting the look of LavaFox into Dark Lava.

Found some facts that made me think about dark themes in general under WB.

I'm not sure now if it's possible to make a real dark theme in WB... I tried black background in win explorer,

but then the light-gray text becomes invisible under certain apps (that display white background).

The other thing i couldn't do is to animate the scrollbars and progressbar(as in LavaFox).

Firefox uses animated pngs as native format so anything (!) can be animated very nicely,

That will be the coolest feature for Stardock apps IMHO... (instead of filmstrip and frame count)

Anyway, i'd love to get some feedback and discuss the possibilities of dark themes in general.

Any feedback is very welcome.

Greetings.

Hi everyone.

I haven't been here for a while.

Got busy with a very big project, a theme for Firefox.

The theme is based on my Dark Lava style but it went a long way...
I'm releasing it only on Mozilla Add-ons since it's much more suitable.
Firefox themes need to be updated and supported and Mozilla takes care of that.
I'd love to post it here but then there will be no net-install and no automatic updates.
Sorry i have to make an exeption and release it only on the official Firefox Homepage.
I do it in order to provide all the features that Mozilla offers such as:
Reviews, older versions history, net install + version check, HTTPS, advanced preview exc.
All this features won't be available in any other way.

Hope you'll enjoy it, thanks for reading.
